Things have been a little slow here at Abel Boddy HQ due to me putting the “Abel Boddy” collections together. I have over half the pages done, but still have to do some serious re-coloring and re-bubbling of quite a few strips whose files were lost in a hard drive crash. It’s very exciting to see everything coming together.

This last weekend was both NYCC and APE, neither of which was I able to attend, which kind of bums me out. Not that it would’ve made much sense considering I don’t have any books yet. So another great incentive to finishing this project is having a reason to go out to big events.

On a completely unrelated note, I started watching Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated on the recommendation of Comics Alliance. I’m no Scooby-phile, but I will admit it is interesting to see how they’re trying to stay true to the Scooby Doo lore, while at the same time, expand upon it. Providing context to Scooby and the Gang’s town and their family backgrounds is an interesting direction. I always enjoy studying character development choices.

There’s only a couple of things that annoy me, and because I know you care, here they are:
1) Why do Fred, Daphne AND Shaggy all come from wealthy families?
2) What is up that ridiculous blaxploitation DJ character?
3) If Fred likes traps and Shaggy likes to eat, why is Daphne’s “thing” being attracted to Fred? Couldn’t they have been a little more creative? In fact, the whole Fred being oblivious to Daphne’s attraction is pretty stale too. I would just be so much happier if Fred and Daphne were just a couple and she has her issues and he has his.

Looking forward to watching the rest.
